Elevator Pitch PR
Generally speaking, Elevator Pitch PR campaigns consist of three parts:
Part 1: The Interview/Information Gathering Process
Part 2: The Writing of the PR Pitch Email
Part 3: The Building of the Media List (and Distribution of the PR Pitch Emails)*
*We are able to keep costs lower than many other PR agencies in part because, after Part 3 when we email the PR pitches to journalists, we hand over responsibility for coordinating interviews to the client (though you have the option to hire us to arrange interviews and setup zoom calls too).
Depending on a client’s budget, we can spend hours, days, weeks, months, or even years cycling through the three PR campaign stages to try and generate media coverage.
Of course, none of our clients have infinite budgets. Moreover, every one of our client’s budgets is unique; in some cases, clients have especially small or large budgets.
Consequently, we offer relatively fluid pricing depending on your budget:
We charge between $150/hour and $250/hour to execute a PR Campaign, depending on how many hours you pay for.
While we recommend that clients order at least 15 hours of PR outreach, the following pricing options are available:
$250/hour: This tier is for people who can only commit to paying for 1 hour at a time. We will work as quickly as possible, though we cannot guarantee ahead of time exactly how many hours we will need. In order to keep time and costs down, you are required to join us on a video call for the entire campaign creation process, from the interview phase to the email pitch distribution phase, though we can break the call up into multiple shorter calls if you are busy.
If you want to cut down our work hours to save even more money, you can DIY one or more of our service offerings: The pitch writing, the media list building, and/or the pitch email distribution. We will provide you a complimentary DIY PR guide for assistance.
$225/hour: For clients who are able to commit to 7.5 hours of PR outreach ($1,688 final cost). We can contact, at most, 1,000 journalists on this plan.
$200/hour: For clients able to commit to 10 to 29 hours of PR outreach ($2,000 to $5,800 final cost). This typically allows us to execute 1 to 2 campaigns over a 2 to 4 month period, be more creative in the pitch creation process, write pitches that are better tailored to individual journalists, and build significantly larger media lists.
$175/hour: For clients able to commit to 30 to 59 hours of PR outreach ($5,250 to $10,325 final cost). This typically allows us to execute 2 to 5 campaigns over a 6 to 10 month period, in addition to the other benefits of the $200/hour tier.
$150/hour: For clients able to commit to 60+ hours of PR outreach ($9,000+ final cost). This typically allows us to execute at least 3 campaigns over a 12-month period, in addition to the other benefits of the $200/hour tier.
For all of these campaigns, your hourly fees cover the Interview/Information Gathering Process all the way to the PR Pitch Email Distribution Process (Please scroll down to the “What Happens After We Distribute Your PR Pitches?” section to read about what happens if and when journalists respond to our pitch emails)
How Long Does It Take to Pitch Journalists and Get Media Coverage?
We cannot guarantee we will get you media coverage (Read more about this in the “Do You Guarantee Media Coverage?” section below)
In regards to how long it takes to start sending out your pitch emails, it depends on how many clients we are currently pitching to journalists. From the time you retain us to the time we send the first pitch to a journalist can be as fast as 2 days, and as long as 2+ weeks. Once we begin emailing pitches to journalists, the time between the first pitch being sent to the time the last pitch is sent can be as fast as a few weeks, and as long as 2+ months.
Priority is given to clients who committ to more hours of work. Alternatively, you can pay a $500 fee to fast-track the pitch writing process or pitch distribution process and a $750 fee to fast track both the pitch writing and pitch distribution process.
Payment
We bill by the hour through an Upwork contracts that you have to propose or accept after we propose.
If you do not end up needing all the hours you originally order (i.e. you order 60 hours of PR outreach but decide after a few months you only want 30 hours of PR outreach) we will re-bill the hours we already billed you for, but at the higher rate, then deduct what you’ve already paid (i.e. if we billed you for 30 hours at $150/hour - which was $4,500 - we will re-bill you at the $175/hour rate - which is $5,250 - then deduct the $4,500 and send you a bill for $750).
Do We Guarantee Media Coverage?
No, we do not guarantee media coverage.
We merely promise that we will pitch you to a large list of journalists - typically well over 1,000 - who work for a cross-section of the most prominent media organizations in the U.S. and the world.
Since we signed up our first client in 2020, we have secured at least one earned media placement for the majority of the 100+ companies and organizations that have hired us; we often secure multiple placements in a single campaign (our most successful single campaign generated around 40 online, newspaper, magazine, and TV placements among the country’s most storied media outlets).
What Happens After We Distribute Your PR Pitches?
In order to keep our fee as low as possible, by default we do not handle post-pitch communication with journalists. In other words, if after receiving the pitch email a journalist replies to learn more, our clients are entirely responsible for answering questions, scheduling interviews, setting up zoom calls, etc.
In order to ensure that all journalist email inquiries are received, prior to the distribution of pitches clients are required to schedule a 15-30 minute auto-forwarding setup video call. During this call, we will instruct the client how to setup email auto-forwarding.
We are also happy to serve as an intermediary for our clients and journalists, schedule interviews, setup Zoom calls, and otherwise stay on top of journalists to ensure they end up covering you, for the following price:
We charge an hourly rate of $250 for all post-pitch journalist communication
